Dear child..

11 10 2011

As I walk over the wet sands today.. it all comes back to me.. those wonderful morning walks that we had together.. discussing subjects of common interest.. admiring the rising sun flooding everything around us with its golden red gleaming light..

how we used to run till we were outta breath trying our best to outrun each other and end up laughing.. how we used to forget everything around us and watch the endless waves sitting on the rocks.. how you used to shake me awake on the cold January mornings and pull me to along for the jog..

how much I miss you today is just inexplicable.. you are not around to push me outta bed.. not here to crack jokes when I’m angry.. not here to fight with me for the TV remote..  not here to jump and grab my supper and taste it just to see if there was anything special in mine that was not in yours…

it’s a pain to see you each day.. talk to you.. but not be able to feel your physical presence around me.. it’s a pain when I’m not able to shout out to you just for you to come and turn on the fan for me.. it’s a pain that I’m being constrained to one spot to see you and talk.. lest I’ll move out of your frame… an inexplicable pain for every mom and dad.. whose daughter or son is  not in the same place as they are, either studying or working or married…

Circle of Love

28 07 2011

She had a bond with me that was totally unbreakable.. she was my best of friends.. I used to accompany her everywhere.. and then came a time when she found a new friend.. someone who occupied her whole day.. she was left with very little time for me now.. I was so heartbroken.. and then she introduces the friend to me.. I was shattered.. slowly the friend occupied her days entirely.. there were days when we both spent time mindlessly chatting.. now she hardly has time to say good day.. I was so shaken that I told this to him.. and he said, it’s about time.. I was caught by surprise.. to that he said.. our daughter has chosen well.

I waited and waited for her to return only to tell her our decision and kiss her to sleep, and all I did was only wait longer.. and finally she came with him laughing cheerfully.. she was surprised that I was waiting.. and dint know what to say.. she said.. “amma”

I waved goodbye to him along with her.. smiling brightly.. and asked her about him.. she hesitated.. I smiled.. she said ma I …. him.. I said, I know.. she said amma…? I said appa and I have spoken.. and if you wish to, we are game.. happiness gleamed in her eyes.. she was in all smiles totally caught by surprise.. she ran to the road and yelled deii…

He came running and barked loudly and licked my feet.. I picked him up and my 4-year-old smiled brightly.. she said amma I call him tom.. I said OK let us clean him and make a kennel for him tomorrow.. can we get some rest now?

An old story – with twisted side scribbles

8 07 2011

A father had 3 daughters all of whom he loved very much.. (yenga veetukku vanga.. yen kitta moonu ponnu irukku.. palagi parunga.. pudicha kattikonga illana friends-a iruppom)

on one fine day, he wanted to check whom of the three had better sense of judgement. so he ended up asking them a question. (kelvi kekkuradhu romba easy.. badhil konjam solli parunga.. appo than adhoda kashtam puriyum)

question: (background score – kalyana samayal sadham..kaigarigalum pramadham)

which is the most important thing in a wedding meal (idhellam oru kelvi nu kekkuraru..! shabba)

daughter 1: (kanna laddu thinna aasayaaaa)

Sweets that we serve at dessert.. applause… father is in all smiles.. (yo modhalla soru podunga ya.. appuram sweet sapdalam)

daughter 2: (saami soru saami soru)

the variety of dishes served in the main course.. father is in smiles again.. great answer he says… (sollitanga ba)

daughter 3: (uppitta tamil mannai naan marakka maten…)

“salt” — pause… everyone is watching her in silence.. what a dumb answer, will anyone serve salt in a meal? after a second, the daughter continued.. it gives flavor to everything that is served…! (idhu pudhusa irukke…?)

Father was surprised at the level of thinking of the third daughter. and from then on, she became his favorite among the three and they lived happily ever after..! (feeeeelingss.. )
