Breathe…!

Yes you read it right.. i certainly am asking you to breathe.. by this word, i do not refer to the involuntary inhale exhale that we do in order to exist.. we all need to breathe some life into the monotonous inhale exhale. only then can we make use of our lung capacity to the fullest. most of us why all of us make use of less than one tenth of our lung’s average capacity.

why this pathetic state:

1. we are too busy to pay attention to breathing.. well its such a silly activity.. the person who sits aside and takes time for himself.. and claims to be breathing (unless he has code named it pranayama) will be laughed at even by kids. well pranayama is no big deal.. it is the art of breathing and enjoying the process of breathing. and yeah pranayama has much more.. it helps the practitioner cleanse his / her respiratory system. now lets not go into that art form.. lets stick to the topic of this post.

2. breathing happens automatically.. why get so serious? well yeah thanks to nature that the breathing process is automated. lest the human race would have ceased to exist centuries ago.

ok so breathing is just inhale exhale.. now why are you making such a deal out of it? is there anything extra? any new method? inhale thru the eyes.. exhale thru the the toes??

YES.. breathing in not just inhale exhale.. there is a lot more.. and NO new method. we have to enjoy the process of breathing.. there is a saying that while we were created, mother earth did not say, we’ll live for so many days.. mother earth said.. you’ll live until you inhale and exhale so many times.. (please don’t beat me.. it may be true)

so whats the hurry to leave the earth guys?? slow and steady wins the race right? so breathe slowly and steadily.. enjoy atleast 5 deeeeeppppp in’s and out’s each day.. lemme tell you outta experience that its a pleassure.. try it..

but yeah one more point to note.. no tummy breathing allowed here..i’m by no way telling that tummy breathing is nice..

what is tummy breathing: breathe in.. tummy expands.. air escapes thru the food pipe.. only half or less goes to the lungs.. rest goes to the tummy and comes out.. wasted.. one tip to avoid it.. place your palm on the tummy and monitor it while breathing.. if your hand does not go in out in out.. you win 🙂

So Breathe slowly.. think steadily.. and live happily.. 🙂

P.S: its a very good anger controlling mechanism too 🙂 when ever your in fits of anger.. just take 4 or 5 rounds.. anger will decrease.. and in the mean time your energy will also have a clear boost (2 in 1) 🙂

Water the elixir of life..!

This post is an excerpt from a speech i heard ages back..

like we’ve all read before, we can go without food but without water we cant live more than 3 days..

ok now to the topic.. the speech i heard then was in no connection with  water whatsoever.. the topic of the speech was general health. this particular example that was brought out during the course of the speech is what attracted me.

how many of us consciously drink those 8 glasses of water during the day to keep up our body’s fluid balance? 2% of us? ok our lady in the example is also one among us (98% people). she was travelling in a bus for a vacation with her family.. it was a loooong stretch of road and it was excessively hot that afternoon. like all busses, that bus stopped in the middle with fumes rising from the carburetor due to the heat. our lady got a little panicky and went near the driver and inquired about the fumes.. the driver explained the heat and the necessity of filling the carburetor with water.

back in her seat our lady starts pondering on the previous day’s happenings when it suddenly struck her that she had not taken even a sip of water from when she had started from home (averagely 7 hours back) and on an instinct she imagined herself to be the bus – bursting into fumes because her system gets heated up.. well now she gets the point that the body’s tender fluid balance has to be kept.. otherwise our inner systems will also get heated up and may even stop functioning.

it is not necessary that we wait to become thirsty.. we have to keep a bottle and sip water every 10 to 15 mins once. so that we maintain the fluid balance in our body.





From a waste line to a waist line…?

Yes i found the ultimate tip to get this ultimate (36) waist line all it takes is one simple step… 1 simple alteration to our regular way of life… no dieting no painful schedules…

the alteration needed is:  we should cultivate perseverance and hope 🙂

1. we have to first assure to ourselves that we look good as we are now.. but we would look better if we worked  a little more hard on it

2. we have to decide on what ever are those measures which according to us will take us to that ultimate figure that we wanted

3. stick that measure that we have decided to our regular schedule using fevi quick.

see.. the  idea is very simple 🙂 we earn to keep ourselves going which happens by eating “arai jaan udambirkku vayire pradhaanam” keep ur tummy happy and you can do what ever you want…!

but the secret lies in consuming what we really need and not all that we want or desire. there is a lot of difference between eating and eating right…!

so eat right

maintain a regular workout routine (can vary from a 10 minute walk per day or anything that gets you moving – but keep it regular)

feel good about how you look each day and visualize how you’l look more beautiful in due course with your plan in place

change will happen (yes it will be slow)

and that change will make you feel great

Cucumber

The first thing that comes to our mind is the green fresh cool thing that we relish during summer.. cucumber or velrikka or kakkdi as its called.. is such a coolant it makes the body cool..

now i’m not gonna tell about its effects inside the body, i’m gonna pen 2 things that i know cucumber does to the exterior face..

when you feel extremely heated after hours of working on the system or dancing or roaming in the city in the hot scorching sun.. 2 slices of kakkdi can be placed on the eyes, and if we relax for ten minutes with these 2 slices, the relief that we get is simply inexplicable!! the same effect can be brought about by 2 square cotton pieces soaked in cool water or cool milk.. but nothing can substitute the natural effect of cucumber

and.. cucumber can be juiced and the  juice can be applied on the face and washed after it dries.. this leaves the face extremely fresh and glowing… we need not even do this separately.. after slicing cucumber, some juice will surely remain in our hands.. even this little can be applied on the face.. the effect is superb…!!

Meditation

Hold it hold it… by no means its close your eyes..think of deepika padukone/hrithik.. and breathe deeply… sssiiiggghhhh!! This is real meditation!!

The following was my status a few days back..

“smile is the best reaction to any given situation” I had one of my friends pass a comment on this “ try smiling when someone showers you with a rain of bullets!” ok this is in no connection with meditation.. anyways..

Meditation is just about blanking your mind off all thoughts and sitting blank whilst breathing deeply whereby relaxing and reenergizing your mind and body. Now the blanking your mind part is the most challenging.. the rest will fall in place automatically.

Ok trials:

sit up straight take a deep breath.. hello..? I mean it. sit up.. take a breath…! Now breathe out calm… ok now stop thinking about your boss, about your siblings, spouse, child, etc, etc, bus travel, sleep, yawn…! hello hello.. we are not going this way and sleeping we are trying to blank the mind..

Fine fine.. I know what you are feeling this minute.. I am not crapping or making a fool of you.. fine try it yourself.. blanking is not possible the first time.. it will come along eventually. For beginning, lets try something light.. try turning on some soothing light music.. if you are at office.. try to imagine that everyone around you is miming and the volume is muted.. funny isn’t it? To see everyone miming?

Ok now.. breathe deeply and close your eyes.. think of the setting sun.. slowly breathe out.. breathe in again… ok how many of us have a goal here? (please note, I am strictly not talking about a football goal). Ok goal or no goal.. we all aspire to have a bright future don’t we? So think of the bright sun, imagine it’s a small glowing ball in between your eyebrows.. do you get a tingly feeling? Good we are already improving..

Now try imagining this small sun between your eyebrows when ever your restless.. While doing this.. breathe slowly, deeply.. retain this for 2 mins initially.. then increase the time.. even if the ball of sun refuses to come.. don’t stop breathing.. just keep breathing in and out.. slowly deeply.. after about 5 in’s and out’s assuming that you were breathing with your eyes closed, open the eyes slowly and rub your entire face with your palms.. there you go.. as fresh as the sun.. ready to shine..





Healthy Corporate

The scenario:

Alarm goes “wee wee wee wee” one eye opens, finds the mobile hits the snooze button
– 15 mins –
Alarm goes “wee wee wee wee” one eye opens, Oh Monday mornings! and its 6:15 already??
reluctantly we get up, swear at the tooth brush while brushing, write on water “i will work out tomorrow morning” shower, nibble food, rush to catch the commuter. and after a great deal of road, office is reached.
Its darjeeling once we step into the main doors. Thanks to them, at least the WC’s don’t have a split AC. we don’t feel thirsty in the pleasant temperature because all we do is SIT, sit,Sit and sIt. The cafeteria, mmm such an inviting place in any corporate organisation so many items to munch at affordable prices and all that they do is drain everyone’s salary by FILLING their stomachs. The kinda food and junk available there, pulls us nose first and we crave to into eating our own way to capsules and bankruptcy. But its such a happening place throughout the day. andso all that we do is, sit eat EAT siT Eat SiT sIt eAt, bloat like a balloon and then say, travel too tedious, work pressure etc which are only 10% of the cause.
Even though organisations provide a gym, its a forgotten place for 90% people because of “work” which accounts to seeking advice from the God Father “Guru-Google” We end up huddled for hours in the rotating chair bent in front of the PC and at the end of the day, end up with a backache and neck pain.

some suggestions:
* wake once the alarm rings without snoozing it whereby u need not bathe in 2 mins.. u can take 5 mins (3 extra)
* after nibbling food, take some fruit say a banana or apple or atleast a glass of milk or buttermilk or worst case water.
* walk at least 10steps every 1 hour! DO NOT STAY GLUED TO YOUR CHAIR! No one is gonna steal it.
* picking up waste paper from the floor is not a sin, your back gets relaxed. breathe long and deep to feel at ease always.
* even if you have to visit the rest room now and then, DRINK WATER. at least for the fresh and free feeling.
* most cafeterias provide stalls of all kinds. eat well thats no issue at least in this blog, but eat so that your able to get up and walk around comfortably.
* add fruit juices to your meal when ever possible.
* staircases do exist in buildings. no harm climbing 2 floors even if not 12.

Yoga

This blog is not gonna say yoga is this and that an ancient art preserved bla bla.. this is the usual stuff everyone can lay their hands on in any book or online.. im gonna pen stuff which one may feel is beneficiary.

wats is the purpose of doing yoga.. or why do ppl do yoga.. its not for peace of mind. peace comes in from each one’s outlook.. only each of us can feel it from within, it cannot be given by another like a gift.. ok where yoga comes in is.. it makes you relaxed. basically because the movements are slow unlike most others where the movements are fast.. im not hinting here that other forms are bad.. im jus saying yoga is good.. doesnt make you tired makes you feel more fresh an filled with energy. when you are energetic, you can do more work then wat your doing right now.. hence comes a satisfaction and hence the peace of mind.
a note on losing or gaining weight.. this art works both ways.. if a person is flabby.. it tones up the muscles and makes you trim..on the contrary if a person is famished an skinny they’ll feel more hungry and will tend to eat… all in all makes a person healthy (neither flabby nor skinny).
when to practice… you mite have heard that its best to do it in the early morning this and that.. the main reason being.. the early morning and the time of sunset the climate is naturally cool and breezy.. and since one tends to sweat while yoga is being practised, a lot of air is good… and for doing pranayama (breathing) a good flow of air is necessary. when the sun comes up.. the climate is hot, we sweat a lot and don’t gain the intended amount of energy.
